Andrew and I went to the same high school, but he was a grade younger than me. I remember first seeing him around during my senior year of high school. He was good friends with one of my friends, so we knew of each other, but never really had the opportunity to get to know each other well. I remember thinking he was very handsome. I knew that he played baseball and was really involved with his church, which I admired. We would say hi to each other if we saw each other, but besides that, we never really got to know each other.
I graduated high school and went off to college at Kennesaw State, and he later graduated and went to Georgia College and State University. It wasn’t until my junior year of college when I came home one weekend to spend Mother’s Day with my mom and family. My mom told me that recently her, my dad, and my brother had been visiting North Metro Church. She told me that for some reason, she felt that God was telling her we needed to go to that church. I remembered that Andrew went to that church, so I decided to text him the night before and tell him I’d be there.
The next day, Andrew and I reconnected at church. I remember thinking he was so nice and handsome! After the service, we talked in the parking lot and caught up. From then on, we began texting and going on dates. We spent that summer together dating, and on July 11th, 2014, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Now that we are engaged, I now know why God was telling my mom that our family needed to go to North Metro! Andrew is the kindest, most genuine person I’ve ever met and I am so incredibly blessed that he is mine! – Amanda
I knew of Amanda in high school, but we were never that good of friends because she was a grade older than me. Amanda was good friends with one of my best friends, so when I hung out with him, I’d see Amanda and we would say hey but that’s about it. I always thought Amanda was sweet and beautiful, but I was always too shy to have an actual conversation with her.
After my sophomore year in college, I came home for Mother’s Day and had some of my best friends over that Saturday night. I remember getting a text from Amanda asking if I was going to North Metro First Baptist Church in the morning. It was so random, but I was so excited she texted me. I told all my friends, “Look who just texted me… Amanda Henderson!” I texted her back saying that I was going and that I was looking forward to seeing her.
After church, we talked all the way from the sanctuary to our cars. I then texted her saying, “It was great catching up with you, we should hang out sometime.” From there, we went on a few dates and really clicked. On July 11, 2014, I asked Amanda to be my girlfriend. She’s changed my life and has made me a better Christian man. I’m so fortunate to have crossed paths with Amanda at church on Mother’s Day in 2014. Amanda is so sweet, caring, and beautiful. I’m so blessed to call her mine and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her! -Andrew
